Beyonce wedding downplayed by Gossip Mags due to Racism?

OK I am on a bit of a Beyonce kick today. I hope this is my last post on the subject for a while but this new development might get some in an uproar. Granted this is Entertainment and not politics, but the racial scene in America is not that Kosher right now. According to various reports The Beyonce Jay-z wedding was only featured on the cover of the major Gossip magazines last week. And the rumor is that the reason for this low exposure is not because the wedding was a secret wedding with only 40 or so guests. No it would appear that the reason is because Blacks don’t sell Magazines!!!
But Us Weekly editor in chief Janice Min, the only non-Caucasian to helm a top celebrity magazine, told the columnist: “Janet Jackson has been on our cover twice, for two of our best-selling issues we’ve ever had.”
She acknowledges there is a perception in her industry that black stars don’t sell covers, but adds: “Typically, you will hear that discussion among a group of all-white editors.”
Now are these people serious? Are they trying to sell magazines to black people or not? I am sure that blacks would buy the magazine with Beyonce wedding photos on it. I hope to god this isn’t true but reading that article in it’s entirety it basically says anyone but black celebrities will sell magazines. They mention Eva Longoria and Jennifer Lopez being able to pull in the bigger bucks for their pics than Beyonce ever could. Only Oprah and Janet Jackson seem to have some industry credibility?
The world is obviously still a crazy place.

I certainly hope this isn’t true. I will say this: it would be easier to sell more mags if they actually HAD any wedding pics. I haven’t seen any wedding pics from JayZ & Bey. I’ve seen a mag with a description of what they had but no actual pics. I would think that would be a reason for not over-reporting thier wedding; the lack of wedding pics.
