German Swim team can’t wear Speedos
By Plan B | April 20, 2008
Now the second biggest story for this year after the US Presidential Election is of course the Olymipcs. WE here at Plan B love the Summer Olympics. We will start to report on Olympic themed stories here from time to time during our run up to the big events.
One of the earlier contraversy this year involves the use or non use of a innovative swimsuit by speedo which they reportedly had help from NASA in creating. Individuals have been breaking records all over after using these new swimsuits which have only been on the market for a couple of months. So what’s the problem? The problem is that the German swim team who is competitive in swimming events is not allowed to wear the suits. Seems that the German Swim team has a contract with Speedo’s competitor Addidas and Addidas doesn’t have a space age swim suit out to compete with Speedo’s.
Awww the controversy to shave two hundredths of a second off of your time is a big deal in timed events such as swimming. Fortunately the US team is able to wear the new suits. But this certainly sounds like the ground work for DRAMA at the games. Considering the reports of the unbelievably thick, hazardous smog in China, these suits may be needed just to compensate for the air the swimmers have to breathe
